Craniofacial Surgery is another advancement in the Plastic Surgery.
This helps in the correction of various skeletal and soft tissue deformities of the face and head.  The defects in the skull and facial bones are rectified.

Craniofacial Surgery is a Multi-disiciphiary field which involves the various specialists like Plastic Surgeon, Maxillofacial Surgeon, Neuro Surgeon, ENT Surgeon, Anaesthelist, Orthodontists and social worker etc.

Craniofacial Surgery is applied in the Management of 

  • Craniosynostosis
  • Craniofacial Microsomia
  • Treacher Collins Syndrome
  • Craniofacial clefts including cleft lip, cleft palate.
  • Hypertelorism
  • Pierre - Robins Syndrome
  • Deformities of the Orbit - Dystopia, Exolintism Enophthalmos

LIPOSUCTION AND BODY SCULPTURING

Liposuction, also known as Lipoplastry or Liposculpture is the surgical removal of excess fat through the use of small metal cannulas.  Liposuction is ideally suited for treating localised fat deposits, that do not respond to traditional diet and exercise therapy.

Liposuction helps in the reshaping of the body to improve the apperance of the individual. In this, the excess fat is sucked out - some times excision of the skin and the tightening of the muscle-aponeurotic layer one also combined to enhance the apperance.

Two types - Conventional liposuction and recently introduced ultrasound Assisted liposuction are used.

LASER SURGERY

Laser Surgery is now a days gaining so much important.

Lasers are used in the management of following conditions -

  • Vascular lesions including post-wine stains and venous malformations
  • Haemangiormas
  • Spider Angiomas
  • Pyogenic Granulomas
  • Tattoos and warts
  • Pigmented lesions like moles, lentigo simplex, post inflammatory pigmentation.
  • More recently Co2 lasers are used in the reginavation of the skin.  Laser helps in the resurfacing of wrinkles and removal of surface pigmentary abnormalities.
  • Keloids and hypertrophied scars and striae gravida are also successfully managed by laser.
TISSUE EXPANSION

Tissue expansion in a mechanical process that increases the surface are a of local tissue available for reconstructive procedures.

Expanders are made up of silicone and available in different shapes - standard round, rectangle, oval, pear shaped and tabular.

Useful in reconstruction of -

  • Primary and delayed breast reconstruction followed by mastedoning
  • Congenital breast abnormalities as in Poland syndrome.
  • Deformities of breast secondary to burns, trauma or radiation.
  • Defects of the chest and abdomen.
  • Removal of large pigmented naevi and having moles
  • Male pattern baldness and loss of hair bearing skin due to trauma burns.
  • Loss of nose and ear.
  • Soft tissue defects in the face.
